So today I thought it would be fun to try my hand at a video tutorial, BUT my camera died mid-video, so I decided to do missglamorazzi's I <3 Spring TAG.

 1. Favorite spring nail polish: Essie Play Date!

 2. Favorite spring lip colour: Lovelorn by MAC

 3. Favorite spring candle: It's from the Bath & Body Works Christmas Collection, but I am loving "Cranberry Pear Bellini" right now.

 4. Favorite spring scent: Clinique Happy! It smells just like the title suggests. It's fun and clean-smelling and just makes you happy!

 5. Favorite spring accessory: My peach-coloured rose earrings from Claire's

 6. Favorite spring makeup trend: Bright lips!

7. Favorite spring outfit: Probably a bright v-neck with my high-waisted denim skirt from Garage. Super versatile and fun!

8. Favorite flower: anything purple! My favorite colour is purple - it's pretty and spring-y and just makes me happy! If that makes me lame, I'm okay with it.

9. Favorite thing about spring: The smell! It smells like rain and flowers and is just SO pretty.

10. Are you a spring cleaner?: Not at all. Every year, I tell myself that I'll do it, and it just doesn't happen.

11. Any spring break plans?: None this year, but I'm hoping to plan a trip for next year!

12. What is spring like where you're from?: Right now, it looks like this. It's snowy and dreary and bitterly cold. HOPEFULLY it warms up soon, because I don't know how much more winter I can take!

Neutral Everyday Look Tutorial!

Happy first day of spring!

The weather here is super yucky, so today I decided to do a neutral, warm look to make me excited for  some soon-to-be-warm weather.
I used 3 palettes today: QUO Back To Basics (which is a GREAT NAKED dupe), UD Naked Basics, and Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette.

First, you want to start with foundation and concealer. Here I used a combination of Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers foundation. I like to mix the two to get my perfect shade.

Next, you want to create a base for your eyeshadow using an eyeshadow primer. I used UDPP. Then you want to cover your lid in a nude shimmer. I used Birthday Suit from the Too Faced Boudoir Eyes palette. You want to bring the colour all the way up to your crease.
Next, I took the shade Naked from the UD NAKED palette and applied it to my crease and outer corner. This will add depth to your look.
Now, a trick I like to use when applying darker shadows to my outer corner: use scotch tape! Stick it to your arm first, so it doesn't hurt to peel off, and line it with your bottom lash line up to the end of your brow.

Next I applied a TINY bit of Faint from the UD NAKED Basics palette to my outer corner. This shade is VERY deceiving, as it shows up way darker than anticipated, so be careful! For this, I used a fluffy blending brush. Mine is QUO brand, but a MAC 217 would work as well. Now it's time to remove the tape from your eyes, and you should have a faint but solid line of where the eyeshadow ends.
Now it's time for eyeliner! I used Maybelline Master Precise liquid liner pen in black. I made a very thin line, and winged it out just a bit, following the line from my shadow (easy, right?!). At this time, I also filled in my brows, and added bronzer and highlighter to my cheeks. For this look, I like a sun-kissed glow, so I applied bronzer on my temples, my cheeks, and a bit on my nose and chin. I used Benefit's Watts Up highlighter, and applied it to the tops of my cheekbones and under my brow.

Last, I curled my eyelashes using my Sephora brand eyelash curler. I heated it up with my blowdryer for a few seconds before using it on my lashes. If you're going to heat up your eyelash curler, be really careful! It's very easy to burn yourself, as your eye is SUCH a sensitive area. After curling my lashes, I used Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara on my top lashes, and Benefit They're Real! mascara on my bottom lashes. I like to use waterproof/water-resistant mascara on my bottom lashes because my eyes water a TON, especially when it's bitterly cold out (curse you, winter!). To finish the look, I applied MAC Creme Cup lipstick. If you don't have the money to shell out for a MAC lipstick, Maybelline ColorSensational in 015 Born With It is a great dupe.

This look takes about 20 minutes from start to finish, so it's very do-able! Since there's no crazy colours, it's a good look to practice your skills with. Happy Spring!

CoverGirl Lipstick Review and Swatches!

The big Spring 2013 makeup trend is bright lips! They're a really easy way to add a pop of colour to your look, especially on rainy days. Of course, high end lipsticks are (usually) very pigmented, smooth, and last a while. For an inexpensive alternative, I am loving the CoverGirl lipsticks this season. I have shades 395 darling and 400 temptress.

Here they are swatched. 400 temptress on top, 395 darling underneath.

Here they are swatched again. 400 temptress on top, 395 darling on the bottom. I didn't realize how close in colour they look. I bought them on separate occasions, so I didn't see them side by side until I swatched them. Thinking back, I probably could have swatched them in store .. oh well.

Here I am with my everyday look wearing 400 temptress. I really like the colour payoff, and this stuff does NOT come off. Its a super bright, super fun colour for days you need a pick-me-up.
Here I am with my everyday look wearing 395 darling. I like the muted down pinky-nude for everyday. This will definitely be one of my go-to lip colours this season!

I really like these lipsticks - they go on smooth, are very pigmented and last a REALLY long time. 10/10 would repurchase. Sisters and friends are definitely getting these for Easter!

"Its My Birthday!" Haul & First Impressions!

In the past couple weeks, I've been on a hunt for some great products to treat myself with for my BIRTHDAY! Some things were re-purchases (Clump Crusher, Urban Decay Primer Potion - which will from now on be referred to as UDPP) and others were to take a step out of my comfort zone (false lashes, LIQUID liner - I've only ever used pencil or gel).

I'll start with lip products!

Revlon Lip Butters in Peach Parfait and Strawberry Shortcake

First Impressions: Really smooth, apply nicely. They don't stay on as long as I'd like - I find myself re-applying every hour or so. I'd rate them an 8.5/10. Great colour, not so great staying power.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in High Heels

First Impressions: Apply nicely. HOWEVER, it dried out my lips SUPER fast (like 20 minutes fast) and dried this god-awful, almost white colour. 100% would not buy again. I'd rate it a 2/10 explicitly for the colour. I want to love them so bad, but they're just awful for me.

CoverGirl Lipsticks in 395 Daring and 400 Temptress (not pictured)

First Impressions: Go on smoothly, staying power is decent. These lipsticks didn't dry out my lips at all, and went on velvety smooth. Daring is a muted pink/nude, close to MAC Creme Cup, but more brown. Temptress is a beautiful bright pink - perfect for spring! I'd rate these at a 9.5/10. Not cream-of-the-crop, but very nice.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 215 Sweetheart Tulips

First Impressions: Go on very smoothly, intense colour. The colour is amazing, and paired with a Rimmel lip liner, stayed on for a FULL night of drinking. The duo had embarrassingly long staying power. All night, slept in (oops), and half of the next day. The only complaint I have is that the finish is a little frosty, and I like my lipsticks to be matte. 9/10 - good job Rimmel!

Rimmel EXAGGERATE Full Color Lip Liner in 005 Pure

First Impressions: Used as a base for my Rimmel lipstick mentioned above, amazing. Very pigmented, beautiful colour. I don't like to just line the outside of my lips because when the lipstick fades, youre left with this VERY noticeable line. Staying power is amazing, it kind of dried out my lips though, so I'm giving it a 9/10.

Maybelline ColorSensational lip liner in 05 Rose

First Impressions: goes on smooth, pigmented colour. I originally bought this to go under my Maybelline ColorSensational lipstick in Born With It, but it was NOT the colour I was looking for at all. I was hoping for a nude pink, but it was a very dusty rose colour - almost brown. SO that is getting returned for sure. Not because of the product itself, but because it's just not the colour I was hoping for. 7/10

Eyes!

Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP)

Not a first impression, because I've been using this stuff for over a year now. Its my holy grail (HG) eye primer. This stuff passes the "work all day, go out with same makeup, sleep in said makeup without smudging/creasing" test. Amazing, 10/10 product. I haven't tried UDPP in anything but original, so I can't vouch for those products.

Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner pen in Black

First Impressions: Very versatile! It's very easy to apply a thick or thin line and create a wing. It's my first liquid liner and I'm in love already. Stays all day, and doesn't run or smudge, AND it's pretty easy to take off with eye makeup remover. 10/10 would buy again.

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Palette

First Impressions: LOVE. Soft greys, purples, pinks and nudes to create an amazing day or night look. Some shimmer shades, some matte shades. One of my favourite palettes for sure. Very pigmented, but there's a bit more fallout than I would like. All in all, 9/10.

CoverGirl Clump Crusher mascara in Black

Not a first impression, as I've been using this mascara for a few months now, but I love it. It's my new HG mascara. No clumps, and makes my lashes suuuuuuuper long. The only complaint I have is that it's not very volumizing, so when I need volume, I put it on top of my L'Oreal Voluminous mascara. 10/10 for length and clump-resistance, 9/10 overall.

QUO Natural False Lash Strips

I've used these lashes before, and they add the perfect amount of volume and length. Once you get the hang of it, false lashes aren't too hard to apply, but they definitely take getting used to. The first time I bought them, I bought the ones that came with the QUO lash glue, and I didn't like that glue at all. I definitely suggest using Duo lash glue instead. 10/10 would repurchase.

Benefit Real Birthday Turn-Ons! Birthday gift from Sephora

They're Real! Mascara: Comparable to CG Clump Crusher. The only complaint I have is that it's "Water-resistant", so it's really hard to take it off without taking a couple lashes with it. That said, I'm considering buying it for the summer because I'm confident that I can get sweaty without it getting all over my face. A solid 8.5/10.
Watts Up Highlighter: LOVE this product. It's the perfect colour, and blends out really nicely, leaving you with a very pretty, dewy look. 10/10 would buy the full size.

Also pictured are a few nail polishes that I fell in love with at the store. All beautiful fun colours for spring!
